Re: Cichlasoma dimerus (Heckel 1840)
No, We use fish nets (pond fishnets) to catch the fishes but the square bottles to keep them during the trip and 25 cl soda bottles to trip back.

Re: Cichlasoma dimerus (Heckel 1840)
I don't use fish bags but different types of bottles. These are cell culture media bottles and I used them to stock the fishes. http://aquadico.com/up/IMG_4816_scale_1200x800.JPG For the travel you can use small soda plastic bottles. For you F. here's the same Crenicichla specie at differents stages...

Re: Cichlasoma dimerus (Heckel 1840)
You're too much Francisco! We only fished near the shore in 40 cm depth max. The small individues we caught were in the grass. I think I caught a breeding pair because of the full color they showed. Colors are from grey to blue or green or even bronze. The biggest I brought back with me was 2 cm and...

Cichlasoma dimerus (Heckel 1840)
Here's some pictures of my C. dimerus I brought back from my trip to Paraguay.
It's a lovely fish with changing colors.
For the moment the biggest is around 8 cm long.

Re: Dicrossus maculatus Steindachner, 1875
I kept Dicrossus maculatus 2 years ago. It's a lovely fish. Males are stunning! As the other members of the family (Dicrossus foirni, Crenicara punctulata...) they seek food by grabing oaks leaves and turning them upside down or by ventilating the sand in order to fly away food. Very peculiar! I bre...

Re: Apistogramma borellii (Regan, 1906)
They were everywhere in the south of Paraguay.
They live in small ponds or on the shore of big rivers in the herbs or irrigation ditch near the roads.
I let THE question coming up...
