Here's some pictures of my C. dimerus I brought back from my trip to Paraguay.

It's a lovely fish with changing colors.
For the moment the biggest is around 8 cm long.

Excelentes fotos Colossus. Especie muy interesante para mantener si se quiere un acuario subtropical. ¿Qué tal la agresividad de estos?

Nice species Erik.
Tell us something about their behaviour in the wild and the kind of habitat they inhabit.
Pictures needed!

Bonita especie Erik.
Cuéntanos algo sobre su comportamiento en libertad y el tipo de hábitat en el que viven.
¡Necesitamos fotos!

You're too much Francisco!

We only fished near the shore in 40 cm depth max. The small individues we caught were in the grass. I think I caught a breeding pair because of the full color they showed. Colors are from grey to blue or green or even bronze.
The biggest I brought back with me was 2 cm and now it's 8 cm! In the wild the biggest I saw was 10 cm and it's very rare such a size. Maybe far away from the shore but we hadn't the material to fish there. One thing you should imagine it's the predators pressure into the river. Salminus, Crenicichla, Cichla, Pirhana, catfishes...lead to have all the small fishes on the shore or near it.

Now, I keep 5 Cichlasoma dimerus, 4 Crenicichla editahe, 2 Gymnogeophagus balzanii, 2 Bujurquina vittata in a 250 liters tank since 1 week ( I put them back in a tank after they stay all the summer in a pond). So far, there is no agressivity but I hope some Crenicichla eggs ...

Very interesting!
What kind of fish bags do you use for this kind of fishing trips?
I´m waiting for some pictures of the rest of that species, especially those of the Crenicichla.

¡Muy interesante!
¿Qué tipo de bolsas para peces usas para este tipo de viajes de pesca?
Me quedo esperando fotos del resto de especies, especialmente las de las Crenicicha.

I don't use fish bags but different types of bottles.
These are cell culture media bottles and I used them to stock the fishes.

For the travel you can use small soda plastic bottles.

For you F. here's the same Crenicichla specie at differents stages (in the wild or in my tank): Crenicichla edithae

It´s very interesting fishing mode.
Then, do you use those plastic pots as a trap instead of nets to catch it?

I´m very surprised with this foto. It´s amazing!

Es muy interesante el modo de pesca.
Entonces ¿usas esos botes de plástico a modo de trampa en lugar de redes para capturarlos?

Estoy muy sorprendido con esta foto. ¡Es impresionante!

No, We use fish nets (pond fishnets) to catch the fishes but the square bottles to keep them during the trip and 25 cl soda bottles to trip back.

It's nice to see people who can make this things, who can travel around the world searching his own fishes. Maybe one day I'll can make it too :jeje
